About once a week or more, I check for news on upcoming Animal Crossing titles — just a little something to keep me going while I wait for the next mainline game. Animal Crossing has been my favorite game franchise since 2003, when my brother gave me a copy of Population Growing after playing it and thinking I'd like it more than he did. He was right, because I would spend hours cross-legged on the floor in front of the TV playing that game for years to come. And I would do the same with every follow-up game in the series.
I love New Horizons, but I'm at the point where I've stopped discovering new things. Once in a while I'll get a new recipe or furniture colorway, but that's about it. I've landscaped my island to perfection and created a veritable world for myself. I am so proud of my ~1000 hour island, but I'm greedy and I wish there was more content to discover that I haven't already.
Every few months or so, I pick the game back up and enjoy a short stint. Today I tried focusing on taking thoughtful shots with the in-game camera in my neverending effort to fall back in love with the game.
